Hi, I'm Paulien - an artist based in Voorburg, the Netherlands.

My art doesn't fit into one box. Like me. I don't stick to one style or one medium because my brain doesn't work that way.

For me, creating isn't about having a signature style. It's about having an outlet. A way to deal with the noise in my head and the chaos of everyday life. To help me find myself and to remind me of the positives that this world has to offer. And if one thing always helps me do that, it’s using bright and bold colours.

With a French husband and two daughters who are already speaking the language more fluently than I do, I just had to add a French touch. Mine de Tortue means something like ‘the expression of a turtle’. I’ve always been fascinated by, and frustrated with, the unreadable, the quiet, the mysterious. It leaves space to your own interpretation.
