Mine de Tortue
Hi! Who is the hands and heart behind Mine de Tortue you ask? That would be me: Paulien Stélian, an artist based in Voorburg, the Netherlands.
To be honest, I always struggled to find ‘my signature style’. It’s kind of all over the place. But maybe that’s just it: all over the place. Just like how I am as a person. Being creative is an important outlet for me, to express the whole range of emotions I have in me. And they change quite a bit. And thus the art works.
That’s why I love experimenting with different styles, different materials, and even completely different art forms. But no matter how many creative rabbit holes I dive into, I always seem to circle back to bold, colourful designs.
Colours always lift my mood. Even during the off days we all know so well. A little spark of joy can do wonders. So take a look around, and maybe you see some art that’s going to make your space a happy place!
The name
Mine de Tortue
With a French husband and two daughters who are already speaking the language more fluently than I do, I just had to add a French touch. And the funny thing is - though some people find it a bit annoying I found out - is that it doesn't really mean anything :). It just stuck!
